The whole product, for any family.
- Endpoint agents for macOS and Windows, installed on as many devices as the family owns.
- Unlimited enrolled children under one subscription — no per-kid fee, because every family's a different shape.
- Screenshots stay on the child's laptop. The only thing that crosses the network is the classifier's verdict, and only when a category actually fires.
- End-to-end encrypted alerts. Even we can't read them — the family key never leaves your PWA.
- Bring your own LLM — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Swap when the price or the model changes.
- Custom taxonomy — you decide what "concerning" means for your family instead of a vendor deciding it for a market.
- Per-day capture schedule, so off-hours stay off and weekends don't have to look like weekdays.
- Push notifications with the AI's actual reasoning attached — not just a category label.
The LLM bill, and we don't hide it.
The whole point of BYOK is that you own the compute relationship. Backstop doesn't mark up inference, doesn't touch your key, and doesn't see the screenshot the LLM is looking at.
-
Typical range: $1–$3 per active child per month at a
60-second polling cadence with a modern low-cost model like
gpt-4o-mini,claude-haiku, orgemini-flash. - The real number depends on model choice, image detail level, screen resolution, and how many hours the kid is actually at the laptop. The provider's dashboard is the source of truth.
- Off-hours cost nothing, because the scheduler doesn't capture outside the parent-set schedule or when the kill switch is off.
- Change the model and the bill changes with it. You can rotate to a cheaper provider in three clicks from the PWA.
One tier, today.
Per-child pricing punishes big families. Per-device pricing punishes the household where the kid has a school laptop and a home laptop. So we don't do either — and we don't gate the useful features behind an upsell either.
Today, $9 gets you the whole product. If we ever add a second tier, we'll be upfront about what changes and why — and existing subscribers won't wake up to a worse deal.
The things a careful parent would ask.
- What happens when the trial ends?
- Screenshots stop being captured, but the enrollments and configuration stay intact. Subscribe and it picks up where it left off; skip and nothing you set up is lost.
- Can I cancel any time?
- Yes, from inside the PWA through Stripe's billing portal. Refunds are prorated for the current period.
- Do you store my credit card?
- Stripe does — we only see the subscription status. If you cancel we keep the family record, so you can subscribe again later and pick up where you left off.
- What if my kid uses more than one laptop?
- Enroll both under the same subscription. Alerts arrive tagged with which device fired them.
- Is there a family / multi-parent seat?
- Today it's one paying account per family, with multiple enrolled kids under it. Multi-parent accounts are coming — the schema already supports it.
- Is there an annual plan?
- Yes — $89 a year, which works out to about $7.42 a month. Pick it from the cards at the top of this page or in the PWA when you subscribe. Same features, same 14-day trial. You can switch between monthly and annual from Stripe's billing portal at any renewal.
